Participants: Angela Kirby
Angela Kirby was born in rural Lancashire in 1932 and now lives in London. She has written poetry since childhood, under the aegis of her elder sister the late poet, Iris (I. M.) Birtwistle. Apart from bringing up five children, Angela has worked as a chef, garden designer, journalist and non-fiction writer. Her poems have appeared in many magazines and anthologies and have won prizes and commendations in a number of major competitions. She was the BBC’s Wildlife Poet of the Year in 1996 and 2001, and her two collections, Mr Irresistible (2005) and Dirty Work (2009), are published by Shoestring Press. A third collection is due in 2013.
